Gov’t may prohibit sale of carbonated drinks and fast food around schools
It is planned to strengthen control over the sale of sugary carbonated and energy drinks, as well as fast food, in and around schools.
According to the draft program of measures for implementation of the strategy for strengthening the health and well-being of adolescents in Uzbekistan in 2022-2026, regular raids will be conducted by responsible ministries and organizations.
In particular, it is planned to ban the sale of sugary, carbonated and energy drinks, as well as fast food, in areas not less than 500 meters from schools and their surroundings.
In addition, it is planned to revise educational programs on nutrition of adolescents in the medical education system, to introduce topics on rational nutrition.
In this regard, medical workers are regularly certified on issues related to the rational nutrition of adolescents. Programs on adolescent nutrition of medical educational institutions are implemented.
Before that, it was reported that the death rate of children under the age of 14 due to accidents in Uzbekistan is four times higher than in Europe.
