Law enforcement bodies arrest a citizen for destroying archaeological site in Kashkadarya
A person living in Yakkabog district completely destroyed the Kunjutlitepa archeological monument and sold the soil in the area.
A person living in Darkhan mahalla, Yakkabog district, Kashkadarya region was arrested for destroying an archaeological monument, the PGO press service reported.
It is noted that this person, despite several warnings from the responsible authorities, completely destroyed the Kunjutlitepa archaeological monument located in the area, sold its soil, and caused damage worth 47.5 billion soums to the cultural heritage.
On August 15, 2022, the Yakkabog district prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case under Article 132-3 of the Criminal Code (Destruction or damage to tangible cultural heritage objects).
It is noted that citizen R.O. was imprisoned in accordance with the court decision.
Earlier, it was reported that a part of the Urdatepa monument, located in the Namangan region, was demolished and a house was built instead of it.
