Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Katalin Novák discuss issues of expanding strategic partnership

Before the start of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev left an entry in the book of honored guests, and the presidents were photographed together. The heads of state exchanged views on further building up the Uzbek-Hungarian multifaceted strategic partnership.

It was emphasized that deep historical ties, common values   and a similar mentality of the two peoples are a solid foundation for expanding and strengthening friendly relations. The role of Orientalists in the study of the history of relations and the rich cultural heritage of our peoples, including Árminius Vambéry, Ishak Ibrahim and others, was especially noted.

The Presidents noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation, the deepening of a broad political dialogue, the continuation of mutual support, and the promotion of inter-parliamentary and public relations.

An important priority is the build-up of trade, economic and investment cooperation. It was stated that in recent years the volume of trade has increased almost three times.  

“The parties are unanimous in their opinion that the inclusion of Uzbekistan in the GSP+ system of preferences of the European Union opens up new opportunities for a significant increase and diversification of mutual trade. An important place in the development of Uzbek-Hungarian cooperation is occupied by the cultural and humanitarian sphere. It was noted that the Hungarian government decided to increase the annual quotas for students and doctoral students of Uzbekistan through the Hungarikum program to 170 scholarships,” the report reads. 

The expediency of holding the second Uzbek-Hungarian forum of rectors of higher educational institutions was noted. The heads of state also exchanged views on topical international and regional issues, discussed issues of continuing an intensive dialogue and mutual support within the framework of multilateral structures.

Following the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the President of Hungary to pay a visit to Uzbekistan at any time convenient for her.
