Mirziyoyev: Further strengthening of partnership with Turkmenistan is an invariable priority of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy

“Further strengthening of partnership with Turkmenistan is an invariable priority of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy,” Mirziyoyev said during the event.

The parties indicated that the basis of the Uzbek-Turkmen partnership is the further expansion of trade and economic ties.

Today, the construction of a border trade zone with modern infrastructure will also be launched.

“This will help increase trade, expand business contacts, create new jobs in the regions of our countries,” the President of Uzbekistan said.

In addition, agreements were reached on the active development of cooperation ties through the implementation of projects in industry, energy, agriculture, transport and logistics. Priority areas of cooperation in the areas of water use and environmental protection, prevention and elimination of consequences of emergency situations were outlined.

The sides stressed the importance of continuing a constructive dialogue on the rational use of water resources of the transboundary rivers of Central Asia. Special attention during the talks was paid to the further expansion of inter-parliamentary dialogue and people’s diplomacy, the development of interregional ties, and the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

“Cultural and humanitarian exchanges have always been the cornerstone, the basis of the centuries-old friendship of our fraternal peoples,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

In addition, in order to widely celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, the parties agreed to hold mutual days of culture and cinema, festivals and other events next year.

The president confirmed the commonality of the positions of the two states on topical issues of international and regional politics. Active interaction will continue within the framework of the UN, OSCE, CIS, SCO, UTC, IFAS and other multilateral structures.

“We agreed to further strengthen regional cooperation within the framework of the consultative meeting of the heads of states of Central Asia,” the leader of Uzbekistan said.

Also, the presidents of the two countries agreed to step up efforts aimed at the speedy stabilization of the situation and the promotion of important infrastructure projects in Afghanistan. At the end of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the results of fruitful negotiations would contribute to the comprehensive strengthening of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
