Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan sign an agreement on joint management of Andijan reservoir
The foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on some sections of the border of the two countries and an agreement on joint management of the Andijan (Kampirabad) reservoir.
Today, November 3, in Bishkek, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, signed several international agreements.
According to the information of the MFA of Uzbekistan, the parties signed an agreement on some sections of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state border and an agreement on the joint management of water resources of the Andijan (Kampirabad) reservoir.
In addition, an agreement on cooperation on water management issues and others was signed between the Ministry of Water Management of Uzbekistan and the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, the issue of preparation for the upcoming state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan was also discussed.
Discussions about the use of the reservoir have been ongoing since 1983, when it was built - at that time it was called Kampir-Rovot.
