Uzbekistan Airways to buy 17 airplanes from Airbus and ATR
As part of the official visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Paris, an agreement worth €815.3 million was signed on air transport. According to it, a total of 17 airplanes and 2 helicopters will be purchased from France.
On November 22, a trade agreement was reached between Airbus and Uzbekistan Airways JSC at a meeting held in the building of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to Gazeta.uz, Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov and Vice President of Airbus International for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Jacques Garrigue participated in it.
According to the agreement, 8 Airbus A-320 NEO and 4 Airbus A-321 NEO aircraft will be purchased for €694.3 million, as well as 2 Airbus H145 helicopters for €21 million.
In addition, a contract was signed for the delivery of 5 ATR 72-600 small aircraft for €100 million for the Silk Avia airline.
At the same time, Airbus announced plans to open a service center for its helicopters in Uzbekistan. It is noted that the cost of the project is estimated at €14.1 million.
It should be noted that the presidential decision of October 26 envisages the purchase of 3 ATR 72-600 aircraft in 2022 and the purchase and leasing of 9 more ATR aircraft by the end of 2024.
