Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with Erdoğan in Ankara

After arriving in Ankara on March 15, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The head of state personally expressed deep condolences to the leader of Turkey in connection with the devastating earthquakes that occurred last month in the south-eastern provinces of this country. He fully supported the measures taken to restore the affected areas and build new infrastructure.

The President of Turkey, in turn, once again expressed sincere gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan for their fraternal support in eliminating the consequences of the natural disaster, their active participation in rescue operations and humanitarian assistance to the victims.

It was noted that the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which will be held on March 16, will be a bright expression of solidarity and brotherly ties between the countries of the organization.

At the meeting, the rate of development of Uzbekistan-Turkey comprehensive strategic partnership relations was noted with satisfaction. The volume of mutual trade is increasing, 370 new enterprises were established last year. In the next six years, Turkey’s investments in the economy of Uzbekistan amounted to $3.5 billion. Major projects are being implemented in energy, industry, agriculture, production of building materials, light industry and other sectors.

The plan of upcoming high-level events, including preparation for the next meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, was also discussed.

In the end, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay was awarded the Order of “Dustlik” for his great contribution to the comprehensive development of multifaceted and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey.
