Chinese Foreign Minister to visit Uzbekistan

The Foreign Minister of China, Qin Gang, will take part in the fourth ministerial conference of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in Uzbekistan.

According to the Xinhua agency, at the invitation of the acting Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov, member of the State Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Qin Gang will visit Uzbekistan on April 12-13 and take part in the fourth meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in Samarkand.

In addition to the Chinese FM, the heads of foreign policy offices of Uzbekistan, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Russia will attend the meeting.

Also, on April 14, Samarkand will host a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, which will gather together delegations from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as the CIS executive committee. 

The parties are expected to exchange views on topical issues on the international agenda and discuss interaction within the framework of the CIS. They will also consider the implementation of joint programs and draft documents submitted by the council of heads of state of the Commonwealth.

On the same day, the sixth meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and Russia will be held in Samarkand.
