Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to speed up construction of International Industrial Cooperation Center

The Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper published an article entitled “Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will speed up the creation of the International Industrial Cooperation Center”, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

As the publication reported, the 20th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation was held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the heads of the governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Alikhan Smailov and Abdulla Aripov, with the participation of the heads of the central government offices of the two countries and representatives of business circles.

According to the article, about 80% of all trade in Central Asia is accounted for by Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. At the same time, there are important prospects for deepening cooperation in agriculture, including increasing the volume of mutual trade in agriculture and food industry, as well as further development of industrial cooperation. Therefore, the construction of the “Central Asia” International Industrial Cooperation Center is of great importance. In addition, further expansion of trade relations requires modernization of transit and transport infrastructure.

“We are interested in the development of the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route. A number of major railway projects will allow us to increase the capacity of this route. Among them are the Darbaza-Maktaaral lines, the bypass around Almaty, and the development projects of Dostlik station,” the publication writes.

It is very important to develop cooperation in the field of ecology and water use, because these issues directly affect the lifestyle of the people of the two countries.

As the newspaper writes, about 1,200 enterprises with the participation of Kazakh capital are operating in Uzbekistan today. Only 5 years ago, this figure was almost 6 times less.

According to the publication, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan said: “The priority direction of deepening the economic partnership is the development of industrial cooperation. At the end of the negotiations of the leaders of our countries in Tashkent, we jointly adopted a roadmap covering all priority directions, including the implementation of specific projects worth $10 billion”.

Reportedly, within the framework of the event, the participants considered a wide range of issues of mutual cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, transport, energy, agriculture and water management.

“The signing ceremony of bilateral documents was held. Among them are the minutes of the 20th meeting of the intergovernmental commission, the strengthening of the agreements reached within it, the roadmap for accelerating the establishment of the “Central Asia” International Industrial Cooperation Center, and the joint practical action plan for the protection of the rights of labor migrants,” Kazakhstanskaya Pravda notes.
