According to the press service of the Committee for Religious Affairs, a list of materials prohibited for import, preparation, distribution and display on the territory of Uzbekistan has been published. The list was updated by representatives of the Supreme Court on May 17 this year.

They also specified that all these materials are related to the ideas of extremism and terrorism.

This list includes the names of channels and groups that operate on social networks - Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, Youtube, Ok.ru (Odnoklassniki) and TikTok. In addition, the list contains the names of websites, nasheeds and books.

It was previously reported that in 2022, 21-year-old Jakhongir Ulugmurodov sent a YouTube link to a nasheed (religious song) to the Telegram group of his classmates. According to the conclusion of the Committee on Religious Affairs, the nasheeda was recognized as “impregnated with the ideas of fanaticism”.

A similar incident happened to 21-year-old Sardor Rahmonkulov. At that time, Kun.uz correspondents wrote that a similar list was published on the open data portal, but it was important to expand it and include all prohibited materials in it. It is also necessary to bring this list to the public so that citizens of Uzbekistan can know more about religious materials and possible liability.

Article 244-1 of the Criminal Code states that the production or storage for the purpose of distribution of materials containing ideas of religious extremism, separatism and fundamentalism, calls for pogroms or forced eviction of citizens or aimed at creating panic among the population, as well as the production, storage for the purpose of distribution or demonstration of paraphernalia or symbols of religious extremist, terrorist organizations shall be punishable by a fine of 200 to 400 BCAs, or correctional labor up to 3 years, or restraint of liberty from 1 to 3 years, or imprisonment up to 3 years.
