Iran-Uzbekistan logistics center to be established
Agreements were reached with Iran on the development of cooperation in the field of transport.
On June 18 of this year, the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Mahkamov met with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Mehrdod Bazrposh.
At the meeting, the parties discussed aspects related to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of transport, development of transport corridors, effective use of available opportunities in this direction.
The parties discussed the agreement presented by the Uzbek side on the development and use of the three-way multimodal transport corridor “Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran”, reached an agreement to reduce the fees charged by Iran to Uzbek national carriers in the course of road transport, on the basis of parity, to equalize fuel tax fees with those of other countries.
In addition, the parties agreed to establish an Iran-Uzbekistan logistics center in order to further develop trade relations between the countries, to increase the volume of cargo transportation, as well as to build terminals and warehouses with the participation of Uzbek entrepreneurs in the area of Chabahar and Bandar-Abbas ports located on the territory of Iran.
