“Uzbekistan repatriated 523 citizens who found themselves in a difficult situation abroad” – MFA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan provided information on its activities in the first half of 2023.
It is noted that consular services were provided to more than 107,000 citizens of Uzbekistan during this pe0riod. About 3,000 citizens were assisted to find employment abroad. More than 10,000 citizens were provided financial assistance.
523 citizens who found themselves in difficult situations abroad, including victims of human trafficking, unemployed, without breadwinners and other difficult situations, were returned to Uzbekistan, 113 were taken out of temporary detention facilities.
Identity documents were returned to 133 citizens whose passports were illegally taken away by their employers.
Over the past six months, more than 60,000 foreign citizens have been issued entry visas to Uzbekistan, of which more than 32,000 were issued electronically.
