Uzhydromet warns of localized flooding and mudslides, advises travelers to stay vigilant
Heavy rainfall expected across Uzbekistan between June 28 and July 3 could trigger mudslides, flash floods, and localized flooding in several regions, according to an emergency warning issued by the Center for Hydrometeorological Services (Uzhydromet).
The weather agency has strongly urged local residents, tourists, and drivers traveling through mountainous and foothill zones to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
According to Uzhydromet, the risk of mudslides and flash floods is particularly high in the following areas:
In Tashkent region, risks are concentrated in Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Pskent, Urta Chirchiq, and Yuqori Chirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk. In the Fergana Valley, warnings cover the Pap, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts of Namangan region; Sokh, Shakhimardan, Fergana, and Besharyk districts of Fergana region; and Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, and Marhamat districts, alongside the city of Khanabad in Andijan region.
Southern and central parts of the country are also under threat. This includes the Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Qamashi, and Guzar districts of Kashkadarya region, and Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altynsay, Denau, Boysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Qumqorgon, and Muzrabat districts of Surkhandarya region.
Furthermore, the alert spans Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Qoshrabat, Kattaqorgon, Payaryk, Jomboy, and Ishtikhon districts of Samarkand region; Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurata, Kanimekh, and Karmana districts of Navoi region; and Zaamin, Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharof Rashidov, Farish, and Yangiabad districts of Jizzakh region.
Uzhydromet also noted that severe accumulation of rainwater in low-lying parts of these territories could lead to immediate localized flooding. Residents and visitors in the designated high-risk zones are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel to steep terrain or riverbanks during the specified period.
