The Uzaviation agency discussed with Lufthansa the possibility of resuming flights to Uzbekistan, the agency’s press service reported.
The director of the agency Tohir Nazarov met with representatives of the German airline. The topic of the meeting was strengthening transport and logistics ties, increasing mutual tourist flows, and launching new tourist routes between the two countries.
Among other things, the parties discussed the issue of relaunching regular Lufthansa flights on the Frankfurt - Tashkent route.
Lufthansa operated regular passenger flights to Tashkent from Frankfurt between 1993 and 2001. The air communication was suspended due to a drop in demand for air travel after the events of September 11.
In 2010, the carrier resumed regular flights to the capital of Uzbekistan but later canceled them again.
At the end of 2018, Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov (now the head of the Ministry of Environment) met with Lufthansa’s regional director in the CIS, Ronald Schulz, who announced the airline’s plans to replace the Frankfurt-Baku-Ashgabat flight with the Frankfurt-Baku-Tashkent flight.
