President comments on the situation in Chust district

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reacted to the case of poisoning of dozens of children in Chust district.

“President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is deeply concerned about the unpleasant situation related to the health of children in Chust district (Namangan region), and wishes them to recover soon.

The head of state is regularly informed about the situation in this regard. The regional governor and officials have been instructed to take special control of the issue, determine the reasons and make appropriate proposals,” the presidential press service said.

On September 21, it was reported that symptoms of fever, vomiting, abdominal pain were observed among some children of kindergarten in Chust district, Namangan region. A total of 71 children’s health complaints were registered and they were immediately hospitalized.

On September 22, reports began to arrive that such cases were observed in other districts and Andijan region. By the end of the day, the Ministry of Health issued an order to immediately suspend the use of potassium iodine drug, which is shown to be the cause of deterioration of children’s health, until the issuance of laboratory results.
