Uzbekistan appoints new ambassador to Italy
Abat Fayzullayev has been appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Italy. He replaced Otabek Akbarov.
Prior to his appointment, between 2020 and 2023, Fayzullayev headed the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Austria as well as in Hungary.
He was also Uzbekistan's permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the UN agencies in Vienna.
Abat Fayzullayev worked in various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was an assistant FM – the head of the secretariat.
Fayzullayev replaced Otabek Akbarov, who served as Ambassador to Italy from 2018 to 2023.
