New Ambassador of Uzbekistan presents his credentials to the President of Italy
The newly appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abat Fayzullayev presented his credentials to the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella.
The ceremony took place at the official residence of the President of Italy in Rome – the Quirinale Palace.
During the conversation, Sergio Mattarella warmly recalled his official visit to Uzbekistan on November 9-11 this year, noting that the visit left an unforgettable impression on him.
At the meeting, the high importance of promoting strategic dialogue between the two countries was confirmed, and the interest of both parties in effectively using the prospects for political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy was emphasized.
It should be recalled that at the end of October this year, Abat Fayzullayev arrived in Rome as the appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy.
In 2020-2023, he headed the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Austria and part-time in Hungary. At the same time, he was the Permanent Representative of our country to the OSCE and UN organizations in Vienna.
Previously, he worked in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, as an assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs – head of the Secretariat.
For information, Abat Fayzullayev replaced Otabek Akbarov, who served as ambassador to Rome in 2018-2023.
