Three members of a family in Tashkent died from poisoning; possibly from gas

Two other members of the family remain in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit.

According to the Health Ministry, the patients were diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning. The General Prosecutor's Office stated that an expert examination was appointed on the case, and after clear conclusions, it will be known how the family members died.

Parents and their three daughters were found unconscious in an apartment in the Koksaroy neighborhood of the Uchtepa district. According to the Kun.uz reporter, the incident happened on January 16, 2024.

A 36-year-old mother and her 3-year-old daughter were found dead when the scene and corpses were examined by the investigative team. Also, the 39-year-old father, who was taken to the toxicology department of the Republican Emergency Medical Center in a critical condition, died on January 17 despite the medical assistance provided.

The family's 12-year-old and 8-month-old daughters were admitted to the toxicology resuscitation department of the Republican Emergency Medical Center. They are also said to be in critical condition.

Hayot Shamsutdinov, the spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office, told Gazeta.uz that various medicines, as well as food products consumed in the house, were taken as physical evidence from the scene of the incident. Currently, an expert group is studying the details to ascertain the cause of their death. 

The spokesperson for the Health Ministry Furqat Sanaev told Kun.uz that patients were initially diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning. Mehribon Mametova, the press secretary for "Hududgaztaminot" JSC, told the editors that on January 16, there was no interruption in natural gas supply in the Koksaroy area of the Uchtepa district.

The Uchtepa district prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case and investigations are ongoing.
