On February 1, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On the status of a teacher”.

A person who has begun professional activities for the first time in a general secondary educational organization is assigned an experienced teacher for mentoring for the period of one academic year.

According to the law it is prohibited:

  • involving a teacher in work not related to his professional activities, including landscaping and agricultural work;
    • the requirement from the teacher to generate and provide reports and other information not related to his professional duties, including reports on the employment of graduates;
    • forcing a teacher to purchase goods and services, including withholding funds for goods and services from the teacher’s salary without his written consent.
  • deprived of the right to teach by a court verdict;
    • recognized by the court as incompetent or partially capable;
    • with diseases that interfere with teaching activities;
    • registered in psychiatric or drug treatment institutions;
    • previously convicted of committing an intentional crime.
