Kazakh media focus on creation of green areas in Uzbekistan on dry bottom of Aral Sea
The popular Kazakh information and analytical publication Infozakon published an article entitled “Uzbekistan will create a green cover on the dry bottom of the Aral Sea”.
The author reports that, on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, since 2018, 1 million 730 thousand hectares of forest are created annually on the dried-up territory of the Aral Sea with the participation of assistants from the regions, the Forestry Agency and local residents.
It is noted that Uzbekistan puts forward important practical proposals for goals and objectives in a given direction at sessions of the UN General Assembly. Among them, a special UN resolution adopted at the initiative of the head of our state on declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovation and technology.
“The republic has approved a roadmap aimed at ensuring the implementation of this document. Within its framework, 71 events are being implemented with the allocation of 312 billion soums, $22.2 million and €6 million, as well as 65 priority innovative projects worth 1.9 trillion soums,” the publication writes.
The publication emphasizes that the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea region carries out such work as establishing a coordinated approach to solving problems related to medical, economic development, environmental protection, social protection and other areas related to the life and activities of the population of the Aral Sea region.
“In order to improve the environmental situation in the republic, it is planned to create 240 thousand hectares of forests, including the dry bottom of the Aral Sea and 226 thousand hectares of green cover along its shores. Agricultural crops will be planted in this area and plantations of medicinal plants will be established,” Infozakon summarizes.
