Major residential expansion underway in Jizzakh as President Mirziyoyev inspects progress
"New Uzbekistan" neighborhood is being built in the Sharof Rashidov district.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the "New Uzbekistan" neighborhood in the Sharof Rashidov district of the Jizzakh region.
There has never been such a large-scale construction project in the region before. In recent years, dozens of factories have been launched, giving rise to new industrial sectors. Accordingly, social infrastructure is also being developed.
This area of the Sharof Rashidov district was a mostly unused hillside. Now, on a 140-hectare site, rapid construction is underway. The project, consisting of three stages, plans to build 105 multi-story houses comprising 3,936 apartments. The houses will be 9, 12, and 16 stories high, which represents a novelty for Jizzakh's conditions.
At present, the first phase includes four multi-story buildings with a total of 204 apartments, a central boiler room, a showroom, and internal roads have been constructed. An additional 16 residential buildings, a school, a preschool institution, and a shopping center are to be built. The "Inno Techno Park" will be instrumental in providing employment for the residents.
The second and third phases are planned for completion in 2026 and 2028, respectively. In addition to the houses, a community center, clinic, mosque, hotel, children's and sports playgrounds, as well as the "New Uzbekistan" park, are to be established. The vacant areas would be planted with trees to create promenades.
The president gave instructions to build additional planned houses this year and to create purchasing opportunities for the population through preferential mortgage credits. Accordingly, the rapid construction of social institutions such as infrastructure networks, schools, and kindergartens, as well as the organization of commerce and services, including food outlets along the roads, was emphasized as important.
Three such neighborhoods are being constructed in the Jizzakh region, consisting of 156 multi-story buildings with 4,700 apartments. The population will be provided with all social services. The initiative to build "New Uzbekistan" neighborhoods started in accordance with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan's decree on December 9, 2021. In general, construction works are being carried out in 53 neighborhoods across the country. To date, 409 multi-story buildings with 14,400 apartments have been commissioned. This year, it is planned to build 767 residential buildings with a total of 31,447 apartments in such neighborhoods.
