Pilgrimage preparations gear up as Uzbekistan announces Hajj-24 start date
The pilgrimage season in Uzbekistan for the year 2024 will commence on May 23.
Flights from the republic to Saudi Arabia will be operated daily until June 7 this year, as reported by the press service of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan.
Pilgrims will fly directly from ten regional airports in Uzbekistan to Medina, which includes the airports of Tashkent, Bukhara, Namangan, Fergana, Samarkand, Karshi, Termez, Urgench, Nukus and Navoi. All flights will be carried out by the national carrier Uzbekistan Airways.
The Republic's Public Council for Organizing and Conducting Hajj and Umrah events are expediting the current season's preparations across various fronts. This includes completing medical examinations and vaccinations for pilgrims, assigning group leaders, conducting pre-travel training, mobilizing teams of doctors and cooks, and finalizing travel documentation.
Group leaders are currently engaging with pilgrims to discuss the rituals of Hajj. Each pilgrim is being provided with a guidebook titled "Hajj is a great act of worship," along with essential items such as a bag and a prayer mat.
