Uzbekistan-Russia tourism ties bolstered with new flight routes and initiatives
The first meeting of the Uzbekistan-Russia subcommittee on tourism collaboration took place in Moscow.
The event was chaired by the first Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, Jamshid Abdusalomov, and the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, Dmitry Vakhrushev.
During the discussion, urgent issues on the bilateral agenda were addressed, particularly the implementation of previously adopted decisions and documents, an intergovernmental action plan for creating conditions to increase tourism flow between Uzbekistan and Russia, and a cooperation program between the two nations planned for 2025-2026.
Furthermore, the establishment of flights connecting other countries through Tashkent from Russian cities and the holding of the "Year of Uzbekistan Tourism" in Russia in 2024-2025 were reviewed.
"The tourist flow indicators between Uzbekistan and Russia in the first quarter of 2024 have increased by more than 20 percent compared to 2023," emphasized the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, Dmitry Vakhrushev.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed a protocol of the Uzbekistan-Russia subcommittee meeting on tourism cooperation.
