Alpinists conquer Uzbekistan's tallest mountain

For the first time in history, Uzbek alpinists have climbed the highest point in Uzbekistan — a peak located in the Surkhandarya region at an altitude of 4668 meters.

The ascent of the mountain, classified as a "4A" difficulty level, was made from the northwest side, UzA reported.

The mountaineers, who reached the summit with the national flag, dedicated this event to the birthday of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

To reflect the extensive reforms and positive changes occurring in the country, the mountaineers suggested naming this peak Yangi O'zbekiston ("New Uzbekistan").

It is noted that the ascent was achieved by experienced mountaineers after several months of preparation and a week-long expedition.
