Number of business trips to Uzbekistan nearly tripled in H1
More than half of the travelers are citizens of Turkmenistan.
In the first half of the year, 65,000 foreign nationals arrived in Uzbekistan for business purposes, according to the Statistics Agency.
The number of these trips increased by 42,000 or 2.8 times compared to the same period in 2023. In May-June alone, 26,600 foreigners visited the country for commercial purposes.
Turkmenistan holds a significant lead in the first place. Over six months, 37,900 people from the neighboring country traveled to Uzbekistan for business, accounting for 58% of the total number.
Another third, or 21,400 trips, came from Tajikistan, securing it second place. Notably, in May-June, 10,200 Tajik citizens visited Uzbekistan for business purposes, almost as many as in the previous four months combined.
Afghanistan is in third place with 1,500 business trips. It is followed by China with 723 visitors. India rounds out the top five, edging out Turkey with 582 visits compared to 529.
Citizens from Kyrgyzstan (385), South Korea (329), the USA (199), and Russia (157) also frequently traveled to Uzbekistan for business. The remaining countries accounted for approximately 1,100 visits.
