Mirziyoyev: Uzbekistan has accumulated successful experience in combating poverty
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that Uzbekistan has accumulated successful experience in combating poverty using “advanced foreign approaches”.
“Over the past five years, using advanced foreign approaches and taking into account the characteristics of our country, we have accumulated successful experience in combating poverty, starting from the lowest level – the mahalla,” the text of the congratulatory message to the participants of the international conference “Global Dialogue on Multidimensional Poverty” in Tashkent and Samarkand reads.
The head of state noted that “many countries of the world are showing great interest in the dialogue of authoritative experts in the hope of finding effective solutions to the most pressing problems in reducing poverty”.
As a result, more than 2.3 million needy families, women, single elderly people and persons with disabilities are covered by guaranteed social protection, which is 4 times more than in 2017, the president said.
“Over the past three years, the coverage of children with preschool education has increased from 27 to 74%, and the poverty level among children has decreased from 22 to 14%,” the statement said.
The head of state also said that the country plans to continue large-scale support for the needy segments of the population of the republic and reduce the poverty level to 7% in the next three years.
