Uzbekistan’s FM calls for stronger global cooperation and climate action at 79th UN General Assembly

Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov, delivered a speech at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, sharing a message of peace and prosperity from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with UN leadership, heads of states, and delegations. 

During his address, Saidov called for stronger international cooperation in light of escalating global crises. He emphasized the urgent need to address issues such as climate change, poverty, and technological inequality.

Uzbekistan proposed a series of initiatives at the General Assembly, including a reform of the international financial system to empower developing nations, ensuring equal access to technology for all, and strengthening global cooperation in combating climate change.

Additionally, Uzbekistan highlighted the importance of enhancing the rights and opportunities of women and youth, expanding transportation corridors within and beyond Central Asia, and uniting efforts in the fight against terrorism. The country also proposed expanding its educational center in Termez, which currently provides training for Afghans, into a Global Training Hub.

Earlier, Kun.uz reported that Uzbekistan had supported the UN resolution calling for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Palestine.
