Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly eyeing Uzbekistan national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov as a potential addition to their squad, according to Football Insider.
The English club aims to strengthen its defensive lineup following an injury to center-back Micky van de Ven, which has heightened the urgency for reinforcements.
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown shared with Football Insider on October 30 that the club is actively seeking options to deepen their defense. "One of the potential solutions being considered is 20-year-old Abdukodir Khusanov from French club Lens, who has attracted interest from several top European clubs," the report stated.
Khusanov, a regular in Uzbekistan's national team with 16 international caps, has made a name for himself at the international level and remains a key player for his country. He has also drawn attention from Newcastle United, with former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealing that the Magpies are exploring options to add speed to their backline.
Tottenham’s current focus on central defenders has become critical as concerns grow over the team’s defensive depth. Khusanov is reportedly one of several central defenders shortlisted as possible transfer targets.
The club is expected to prioritize signing a new defender during the January transfer window to address these gaps and support their defensive ambitions for the remainder of the season.
