Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical output rises 30% to UZS 1.9 trillion in early 2026
Large pharmaceutical enterprises in Uzbekistan produced UZS 1.89 trillion worth of medicines and pharmaceutical products during the first four months of 2026, marking a 30% year-on-year increase, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.
The figures reflect the sector's accelerating momentum as the country continues to scale domestic drug manufacturing capacity.
Tashkent city retained its position as the major center of Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical industry, contributing UZS 1.2 trillion – roughly 63% of total national output – over the four-month period.
Beyond the capital, several regions made meaningful contributions to national production totals. Syrdarya region emerged as the leading regional producer outside Tashkent city, recording UZS 261.5 billion in output. Tashkent region and Namangan region followed with UZS 123.5 billion and UZS 106.2 billion, respectively.
Mid-tier production was recorded across Samarkand (UZS 78.4 billion), Fergana (UZS 40.3 billion), Andijan (UZS 39.9 billion), and Surkhandarya (UZS 30.3 billion) regions.
Production volumes in Kashkadarya (UZS 7.8 billion), Bukhara (UZS 4.7 billion), and Khorezm (UZS 3.7 billion) remain comparatively modest, pointing to early-stage industrial development in these areas. The Republic of Karakalpakstan recorded the lowest regional output at UZS 1.9 billion.
