Uzbekistan plans to lift 1.2 million people out of poverty in 2025

Uzbekistan has set a goal to lift 1.2 million people out of poverty in 2025, with a focus on improving education, healthcare, and living conditions. In a meeting chaired by the president, the results of social protection initiatives and key priorities for 2025 were discussed, emphasizing the importance of community development and support for disadvantaged groups.

The president outlined several new initiatives aimed at reducing poverty, including the opening of family-run kindergartens in high-poverty neighborhoods. By 2025, the plan is to establish at least one family kindergarten in each of the 1,000 most disadvantaged areas. The move is part of a broader strategy to support families in need, provide better educational opportunities, and improve the overall quality of life for vulnerable communities.

In addition to these efforts, the government will focus on expanding vocational training, extracurricular activities, and healthcare services to help uplift those in poverty. Notably, the creation of "First Development Centers" in Tashkent’s Toyloq and Kosonsoy districts has already provided preschool education to 4,200 children from poor families and those with disabilities.

Local authorities have been tasked with replicating this model in other districts, ensuring that more children in need have access to early childhood education. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has been given the responsibility to ensure that by 2025, each of the identified high-poverty neighborhoods will have a functioning family kindergarten.

Furthermore, starting from the new year, 15% of places in family-run kindergartens will be reserved for children from low-income families. The government will also offer partial subsidies to cover the costs of tuition, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent children from accessing early childhood education.
