Lions escape and kill guard at private zoo in Parkent
A tragic incident occurred on December 17 at Lion Park, a private zoo in the Parkent district, Tashkent region, where lions escaped from their enclosure and fatally attacked a security guard.
According to the Regional Department of Internal Affairs, the incident took place at approximately 5:00 AM. Three lions managed to break out of their cage into the zoo’s courtyard while the facility was closed to visitors.
During the escape, the lions attacked F.I., a 44-year-old guard, who was reportedly attempting to return the animals to their enclosure. The injuries sustained proved fatal, and the guard died at the scene.
Authorities acted swiftly to contain the situation. Two lions were tranquilized and safely returned to their cage, while the third lion was shot and killed by a local hunter. Officials confirmed that no other individuals were harmed during the incident, and there is currently no danger to the public.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that a thorough investigation involving specialists is underway to determine the circumstances that led to the escape. Additionally, all remaining predators at the zoo were inspected, and the enclosures were secured to ensure the safety of the area.
The Parkent District Police Department is conducting pre-investigation procedures, and further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
