Malaysian company considers establishing scooter production in Uzbekistan
Plans also include the joint manufacturing of compact electric vehicles for both domestic use and export.
The Malaysian company Pro Events and Marketing Sdn Bhd is considering launching the production of electric scooters in Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade via its official Telegram channel.
Company representatives recently held negotiations with the Uzbek authorities regarding potential cooperation. During a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Olimkhon Rustamov, Pro Events and Marketing Sdn Bhd expressed interest in establishing a production facility for three- and four-wheeled compact electric vehicles. Initial production capacity is projected to be 5,000 units per year, with the potential to increase to 10,000 units annually. The company also aims to export a portion of these vehicles to foreign markets.
In addition to manufacturing electric scooters and compact electric cars, the Malaysian firm intends to implement various technological solutions in the country. The company specializes in organizing international exhibitions and marketing strategies and is currently involved in the development of sustainable mobility solutions.
Uzbekistan is actively working to attract foreign investment in electric vehicle and renewable energy projects. In February, the Malaysian company Meraque signed an agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture to manufacture smart agricultural machinery and drones at the country’s Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization.
