“Leapmotor” vehicles to be retested in Uzbekistan with participation of Chinese experts amid certification dispute
Uzbekisan’s Technical Regulation Oversight Inspectorate has announced that negotiations are ongoing regarding the restrictions placed on Leapmotor vehicles. Experts from the Chinese company are expected to visit Uzbekistan in the coming days.
The restriction on the import of passenger cars under the “Leapmotor” brand in Uzbekistan is set to be reviewed, according to the press service of the Technical Regulation Oversight Inspectorate, speaking to Kun.uz.
According to the inspectorate, negotiations concerning the imposed restriction on Leapmotor are currently underway. Specialists from the company are expected to arrive in Uzbekistan soon, and new product tests will be conducted with their participation.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan had suspended acceptance of certification applications for Leapmotor-branded passenger cars. The reason cited was a defect discovered in the Leapmotor C16 model.
The inspectorate stated that the level of electromagnetic noise generated by this vehicle exceeded the permissible limit by 16 times.
Some members of the public have interpreted this move as an attempt to clear the market in favor of local manufacturers.
