Andijan anti-poverty officials fired after drug use caught on camera
The head of the Andijan City Department for Poverty Reduction and Employment, along with his deputy, has been dismissed after being caught consuming narcotics in the workplace. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
According to the press service of the Andijan Regional Department for Poverty Reduction and Employment, the employment contracts of the department head, D.U., and his deputy, S.B., have been terminated.
The dismissals follow the circulation of photos on social media allegedly showing the head of the department using drugs during work hours inside his office. In the images, a man is seen inhaling smoke from a makeshift device made by placing a cut plastic bottle over a tin can.
Shohruh Giyosov, spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that a swift search operation led to the seizure of 0.69 grams of hashish from the individual. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 276, Part 1 of the Criminal Code by the Andijan City Department of Internal Affairs.
