According to the Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of Uzbekistan–EU relations.
The dynamic development of bilateral ties in recent years was positively noted, particularly in the political, trade and economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
It was emphasized that both sides possess significant untapped potential to further enhance cooperation. The early signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union is expected to play a crucial role in this regard.
The members of the European Parliament highly praised the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and expressed their willingness to support the continuation of these efforts.
They specifically highlighted their visit to Surkhandarya region and commended the reform initiatives being carried out in the southernmost part of the country.
Both sides welcomed the successful hosting of the first Central Asia–EU Summit, held on April 4 in Samarkand, which concluded with the adoption of a Joint Declaration on establishing a strategic partnership between the two regions.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on pressing regional and international issues.
