Following the official ceremony, a dialogue took place during which the Estonian President praised the growing trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Estonia and Uzbekistan. He expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation in these areas.
President Karis also highlighted Uzbekistan’s important role as a leading state in Central Asia. In particular, he emphasized President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s significant contribution to fostering regional relations, including the successful resolution of longstanding border issues that had previously been sources of conflict.
The Estonian leader expressed his full support for the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership and affirmed Estonia’s readiness to expand bilateral cooperation.
For reference, Timur Rakhmanov arrived in Riga on March 13, 2024, as Uzbekistan’s new ambassador. Prior to this appointment, he served as Consul General in Novosibirsk from 2021 to 2024.
As ambassador with residence in Riga, Rakhmanov previously presented his credentials to Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs on June 17, 2024, to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda on February 11, 2025, and to Finnish President Alexander Stubb on April 1, 2025.
