Russia tightens entry rules with mandatory app-based registration for foreigners, including citizens of Uzbekistan
Russia is introducing a new procedure requiring foreign nationals to complete a digital pre-registration process and present a QR code before entering the country.
Starting from June 30 of this year, foreign nationals arriving in Russia without a visa will be required to register in advance through the “Gosuslugi RuID” mobile application.
According to official reports, travelers must submit an application at least 72 hours prior to entering the Russian Federation and obtain a QR code, which must be presented upon arrival.
To complete the registration, travelers must:
- Create a personal account in the app
- Upload a photo and provide personal information
- Indicate the estimated duration of their stay
Applications can only be submitted at least 4 hours in advance in exceptional cases such as illness or the death of a close relative.
The following categories are exempt from the registration requirement:
- Citizens of Belarus
- Children under the age of 6
- Individuals entering with a visa, temporary residence permit, or permanent residence permit
For children aged 6 to 18, the application must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian, provided they have a valid entry permit, the report states.
