Heavy rains may trigger floods and mudslides in mountain areas
From May 28 to June 2, due to anticipated rainfall, mudflows and flood events are possible in nine regions of Uzbekistan, according to a warning issued by the country’s national hydrometeorological service, Uzhydromet.

The warning covers the foothill and mountainous areas of the following regions:
- Kashkadarya region: Yakkabog, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzar districts.
- Surkhandarya region: Sariasiya, Uzun, Altinsay, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrabad districts.
- Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Kattakurgan, Koshrabad, Payaryk, Jambay, and Ishtikhon districts.
- Navoi region: Khatyrchi, Navbahor, Nurata, Kanimekh, and Karmana districts.
- Jizzakh region: Zaamin, Bakhmal, Gallyaaral, Sharaf-Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiabad districts.
- Tashkent region: Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Urta Chirchiq, Yuqori Chirchiq districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk.
- Namangan region: Pop, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts.
- Fergana region: Sokh, Fergana, Besharyk districts, and the town of Shahimardan.
- Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qurgontepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, Markhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad.
Authorities urge residents living in mountainous and foothill areas, as well as tourists and drivers traveling through these zones, to take necessary safety precautions.
Uzhydromet also warned that in some areas, rainwater accumulation may lead to localized flooding.
