Uzbekistan seals World Cup qualifiers with a dominant win over Qatar
On Tuesday, June 10, during the 10th round of the third stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Uzbekistan delivered a commanding performance against Qatar at their home ground in Tashkent.
The match was largely controlled by the Uzbek side from start to finish. The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when Aziz Turgunboyev scored a spectacular goal, giving the hosts an early advantage.
Throughout the second half, Uzbekistan maintained pressure and created numerous scoring opportunities. Their dominance was further cemented in the 86th minute when Eldor Shomurodov skillfully controlled a precise pass and scored to double the lead.
In stoppage time, substitute Igor Sergeyev sealed the emphatic 3-0 victory by adding a third goal in the 90+2nd minute.
With this victory, Uzbekistan’s national team secured a confident path to the World Cup by accumulating 21 points in the group.
