Playing in their first–ever World Cup match in Group K, the White Wolves showed immense resilience against the South American heavyweights, but late goals and world–class quality ultimately made the difference.

Colombia asserted their dominance early in the match, controlling 64% of the possession and threatening the Uzbek backline. The breakthrough arrived in the 40th minute when Bayern's Luis Díaz delivered a pinpoint through ball into the box, allowing Daniel Muñoz to fire home a sensational volley.

Uzbekistan responded brilliantly after the halftime break. In the 60th minute, 22–year–old midfielder Abbosbek Fayzullaev sent the traveling Uzbek fans into raptures, scoring a historic equalizer with a close–range header to level the score at 1–1.

However, Colombia’s response was swift. Just five minutes later, Luis Díaz turned from provider to goalscorer, capitalizing on an assist from Gustavo Puerta to slot the ball into the bottom right corner, restoring Colombia's advantage.

Uzbekistan pushed forward in search of another equalizer during the closing stages, making several offensive substitutions. Despite their spirited efforts, Colombia sealed the three points deep into stoppage time. In the 90+8th minute, substitute Jaminton Campaz found the back of the net to put the game completely out of reach, securing a 3–1 victory for Colombia.

While the result leaves Uzbekistan searching for their first points in Group K, their competitive display against one of South America's top teams provides plenty of encouragement ahead of their upcoming group stage fixtures against Portugal and DR Congo.
