Ministry of Construction denies claims of large-scale housing demolitions in Tashkent
Reports have been circulating on social media claiming that the demolition of 110,000 homes has begun in Tashkent.
However, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services has stated that these reports are false. According to the ministry, a nationwide assessment of the seismic safety of multi-story residential buildings is currently underway. These activities are being carried out as a preventive measure to ensure public safety.
It was noted that only one structure – lacking official documentation – has been identified as not meeting seismic standards. In response, appropriate measures have been taken in accordance with regulations to ensure the safety of residents.
At present, there is no decision or plan in place for the mass demolition of residential buildings.
“We urge citizens not to trust unverified reports from unreliable sources and to rely only on official information. We also remind the public that the dissemination of false information is punishable under the law,” the ministry’s statement reads.
