Power outage in Kazakhstan affects Uzbekistan
A sudden shutdown in Kazakhstan's power grid on June 19 caused a drop in frequency across the Central Asian unified energy system, including in Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Energy.
The incident occurred at the Ekibastuz energy hub due to adverse weather conditions, which led to the emergency shutdown of a 500 kV transmission line. This disruption had a direct impact on Uzbekistan’s power supply.
As a result, frequency fluctuations were observed across the regional energy network. The Ministry noted: “To manage the emergency situation, short-term forced restrictions were temporarily introduced in some areas. By 7:30 PM, the malfunction in the 500 kV transmission line was resolved and electricity supply was restored.”
