School placement guaranteed for all children, regardless of residency status – Ministry
The Ministry of Preschool and School Education (MPSE) has clarified that there are no restrictions on enrolling children of temporarily registered citizens in schools, responding to recent reports circulating on social media that such children are allegedly being denied admission in Tashkent.
According to the ministry, the admission process for children of temporarily registered citizens will begin on August 1.
“In accordance with the Constitution and the Law ‘On Education’, every school-aged child has the right to education, and no child shall be left out of the school system,” the official statement emphasized.
The Ministry reaffirmed that it is equally responsible and committed to ensuring all children, regardless of registration status, have access to education and are placed in schools.
“We ask parents to enroll their children in schools according to their permanent place of residence by July 31. From August 1, schools will also accept applications from outside the assigned micro-districts, including children of citizens with temporary registration,” the statement added.
The ministry also reported that 738,000 children are expected to be admitted to first grade this academic year. So far, more than 512,000 children have already been enrolled.
The first-grade enrollment process in public schools began on June 20 and is being carried out in two phases:
- From June 20 to August 1 — for students within their designated micro-districts;
- From August 1 to August 15 — for students outside those districts.
