Paulo Bento declines offer to coach Uzbekistan national football team
Portuguese coach Paulo Bento has rejected an offer to lead the Uzbekistan national football team due to unmet conditions.
According to Portugal’s A Bola, Bento turned down the offer after determining that the proposed conditions did not align with his expectations at this stage of his career.
The 56-year-old coach resigned from his position with the United Arab Emirates national team in March this year. His departure came as a surprise, as the team is still competing for a historic spot in the upcoming World Cup.
Bento previously served as head coach of the Portugal national team from 2010 to 2014 and also managed South Korea during the 2022 World Cup.
Currently, Uzbekistan’s national team is participating in the CAFA Nations Cup under the guidance of Timur Kapadze.
