Senators reject draft law on state social insurance

The Senate has rejected the draft law “On State Social Insurance” at its latest plenary session.

The proposed law covered a range of issues, including sources of funding for state social insurance, insurance contribution rates, contributors, state guarantees for financial stability, and the procedures for assigning and paying benefits. It also defined the scope of state social insurance, insurance events, and the rights and responsibilities of insured individuals, insurers, and policyholders.

Senators emphasized the need to revise certain provisions and align them with existing legislation. They noted that the draft law did not clearly define the powers and responsibilities of the authorized body and included more than ten cross-referenced norms.

“This could negatively affect the direct application of the law. Additionally, it does not address amendments to existing laws that may be required upon its adoption,” the statement said.

Senators proposed changes to eliminate these deficiencies before reconsideration.
