Buvayda resident may enter Guinness records as world’s oldest woman
Until now, there had been no official proof that the woman was 130 years old. The district court satisfied the claim filed by the local justice department and confirmed that Huvaydo Umarova was born on January 1, 1895.
The birth record of 130-year-old Huvaydo Umarova has been officially established in Fergana, the Ministry of Justice reported.
According to the ministry, during the “No one will remain without documents” campaign initiated by the Ministry of Justice, staff of the Buvayda district justice department discovered that Huvaydo Umarova’s birth had never been officially registered. The department then filed a claim with the Kokand inter-district civil court.
At a mobile court session, the claim was upheld and the court ruled that Huvaydo Umarova was born on January 1, 1895. This recognition could allow her to be entered into the Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest woman.
Kun.uz produced a report about Huvaydo Umarova four years ago, noting that she had lived across three centuries. At the time, it was reported that her eldest son had passed away, while her next daughter was 80, another daughter was 79, her second-youngest son was 70, and her youngest child was 60 years old.
Huvaydo Umarova herself noted that longevity was common in her family. For example, her father Toshmat lived to 101, her uncle Mullaqodir reached 130, and her aunt Saydiniso lived 125 years.
For reference, in 2016 Huvaydo Umarova was awarded the “Shukhrat” medal by presidential decree.
The Guinness World Records’ previous holder for the world’s oldest woman, Brazil’s Inah Canabarro Lucas, passed away in May 2025 at the age of 116. According to the American Gerontology Research Group and the LongeviQuest database, which track global longevity records, the title of the world’s oldest woman is now held by Ethel Caterham from Surrey, United Kingdom, who is currently 115 years old.
