The two leaders discussed pressing issues in the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
At the beginning of the conversation, President Mirziyoyev strongly condemned the recent missile strikes by Israel on Qatar’s capital, Doha. He stressed that such unacceptable actions – which violate Qatar’s independence and sovereignty and threaten its security – are contrary to the Charter of the United Nations as well as the fundamental rules and principles of international law.
Uzbekistan reaffirmed its opposition to any form of the use of force in international relations and to steps that could lead to further escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
The President of Uzbekistan also expressed his wishes for the successful convening of the extraordinary Arab–Islamic summit initiated by Qatar. The Emir of Qatar, in turn, conveyed his deep gratitude for the solidarity and support.
The two sides further discussed coordinated measures to continue active political dialogue and to accelerate joint cooperation projects involving leading companies from both countries.
