A Chinese investor is set to launch a $28 million project in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region that will combine the production of electric scooters, solar-powered streetlights, and consumer goods, the regional administration announced.
The initiative is being implemented by Yaxing Guoji Maoyi, which plans to establish new manufacturing facilities in Akdarya district. Governor Adiz Boboev recently held talks with company representatives to review the details of the investment.
According to the plans, the project will cover the production of two-, three- and four-wheeled electric scooters, as well as solar streetlights. In addition, the investors intend to manufacture beverages and laundry detergent.
The first stage of the project, valued at $16.5 million, is scheduled to begin operations in February 2026. It is expected to create around 40 new jobs. During the meeting, the investors requested the construction of a new road to the Dahbed residential area, where a branch of the Urgut Free Economic Zone is located. Boboev instructed regional road services to “promptly address the issue” and pledged full support to the Chinese side in advancing the project.
Yaxing Guoji Maoyi was registered by the Ministry of Justice in Akdarya district in October 2024. Founded by Chinese entrepreneur Yuan Dongsheng of Suzhou, the company is headed by Aziz Kholmuradov and has a charter capital of UZS 1 million. While officially listed as a retail trade entity, its business activities also include agricultural processing and the production of non-food goods.
Yuan Dongsheng is also the sole founder of Yaxing Guoji Jin Chukou Daili, a separate company registered in September 2025 with charter capital of UZS 1 million, specializing in customs brokerage services.
