Italy’s Tuscia University to open international branch in Samarkand with study abroad options
Classes at the new university branch will begin in January next year, and students will have the opportunity to study in Italy under a joint educational program.
A branch of Italy’s Tuscia University will open in Samarkand, the Dunyo news agency reports, citing a statement by the Italian university’s rector, Professor Stefano Ubertini, during a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Abat Fayzullaev.
The official opening ceremony is scheduled for 30 September, with classes set to start in January 2026.
The university’s establishment is part of an agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture to create a joint university campus based on the Samarkand Institute of Agro-Innovations and Research.
The new university will offer undergraduate programs in “Agricultural Sciences” and “Food Technology” as well as master’s programs in “Agricultural Sciences” and “Bioeconomics.” Students will also have the chance to study in Italy as part of the joint educational program.
“For the first time in the history of Italian universities specializing in agriculture, Tuscia University will open its first overseas branch,” the rector emphasized.
Tuscia University, located in Viterbo, Italy, was founded in 1979 and offers programs across six academic faculties.
