Uzbekistan expands university admission opportunities for applicants who failed entrance exams
The government has approved new measures to provide additional pathways for students who were unable to gain admission to higher education institutions.
The decision, endorsed by the State Commission for Admission to Educational Institutions, aims to broaden access to university education and increase enrollment rates among young people, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation said.
Under the new measures:
- A special competition will be held for vacant seats in undergraduate programs. Applicants who scored 56.7 points or higher but were not recommended for admission – including those who did not select a university or major during the second stage of registration – will be eligible to participate.
- Entrance exam results will determine eligibility for enrollment on a differentiated tuition fee basis.
- State quotas have been confirmed for foreign and non-state higher education institutions operating in Uzbekistan.
- Additional state-funded and tuition-based places have been allocated specifically for youth from Karakalpakstan.
The government also finalized the distribution of Presidential Scholarship quotas by academic field and confirmed the selection results for master’s programs at state universities.
Officials stressed that the measures are designed to expand opportunities for applicants, ensure broader access to higher education, and strengthen youth participation in academic programs across the country.
